Gonzales, TX – TNW Corporation hosted staff from the office of U.S. Senator John Cornyn (R-TX) last week at their Texas Gonzales and Northern (TXGN) Railway site.
Joey Evans, TNW’s Director of Business Support and Development, welcomed Cornyn’s Regional Director Andi Dooley and Regional Deputy Director Taylor Puente, treating them to a tour of the site and engaging them in matters of importance to TNW and its subsidiaries and short line railroads in general. Matters they discussed included federal Consolidated Rail Infrastructure and Safety Improvements (CRISI) grants, state funding efforts, and 45G railroad maintenance tax credits; as well as the important economic and community benefits that short line companies like TNW provide in rural Texas.
Dooley and Puente indicated to Evans that it was a very informative and hospitable visit, and that they would regard TNW as a valuable resource for information and perspective in the future.
“We are extremely grateful for Senator Cornyn’s continued support in TNW’s applications for the CRISI grants,” says Evans, “which were awarded to TXGN and TXNW Railways. These grants provide expanded rail services and updated safety measures to support the Texas economy, creating new opportunities for businesses and the communities we serve. We look forward to continuing our relationship with Senator Cornyn’s office and members of the Texas legislature to help drive growth and innovation across the state." The TXGN project funded by its grant concluded earlier this year; and the TXNW project is currently under way.
